Where we're heading
This is our picture of how AFM K9 could keep owners in the loop. It's a vision, not a finished spec. We'd love your gut reaction: what feels right, what feels off, what's missing.
The idea
Your team spends less time typing and more time with the dogs. Owners get a calm, photo-first update, and anything they ask stays attached to that day.
- Less work for the humans. What's known about a dog fills itself in; the team just confirms today.
- One place for owners. An email with the highlights, a portal with everything, comments kept with the update.
- Nothing to remember to switch off. A stay starts, runs and winds down on its own.
Who's in this story
How to use this
- We follow one stay, Bubba and Mickey's, from booking to archive, and show who does what at each step.
- The screens are already filled in. There's nothing for you to type or set up. Tap around if you're curious; nothing on them is recorded.
- Each page ends with a dark Your take strip: a few taps, about 20 seconds, each one saved as you go. "Looks right" is a perfectly good answer.

One stay, start to finish
Every booking moves through four stages on its own. Here's each person's part.
Cody or Kate add the dogs, the owner and the booking.
Vivek gets an invite and a booking confirmation.
Kate & Isabelle post an update each due day and answer comments.
Cody watches the dashboard and hears about anything missed.
Vivek gets each update by email and comments in the portal.
No more reminders. The team can post a goodbye; Vivek can still comment.
Everyone can look back. Kept two years from the last day, then removed.

Bubba's profile
Filled in once. This is where the daily update form comes from: the feeding, walk and medication routine here builds that dog's update form, so you never answer "does Bubba get lunch?" again. Things that change per stay — what they brought, who can collect — are asked on the booking instead.

If something changes mid-stay
- One dog goes home early: mark that dog's last day, and the booking carries on for the other.
- An owner added mid-stay sees everything so far; an owner removed loses access at once. History is kept.
- An update is missed: it shows as overdue, Cody gets an email next morning if it's still missing, and it can be marked skipped.
- A health flag is ticked: it's highlighted in Vivek's email and stays on the dashboard until someone marks it seen.
